• Plumbing Fixtures: Plumbing fixtures can vary widely in price depending on the brand, finish, and features. For example you can choose an $80 vanity faucet or a $2,000 vanity faucet. Shower systems can also range considerably. A simple valve and shower head can be purchased for as little as $150, while a more elaborate system with a rain showerhead, handheld sprayer, body sprays, and multiple controls can range from approximately $1,200 to $5,000, depending on the number of components and brand.
• Tile Selection & Installation Pattern: Tile selection and installation method can both affect the cost of a bathroom remodel. A straightforward installation with tiles laid parallel to the walls is generally the most economical option. Installing tile diagonally can increase the cost due to additional labor and material waste, while herringbone patterns and custom mosaics can significantly increase installation costs. As a general example, a diagonal installation may cost approximately 50% more than a straightforward layout due to additional labor and material waste. Herringbone patterns or custom mosaics can potentially double the tile installation budget. 
• Vanity: Vanity selections can range from a simple single vanity to a large double vanity with custom storage. Semi-custom vs custom cabinetry, specialty storage solutions, and upgraded hardware can all increase the overall investment.
• Countertop: Bathroom countertops vary significatly depending on the material, size, and edge detail.  Entry-level granite may start around $50 per square foot, while higher-level granite, quartz, quartzite, and exotic stones can range from approximately $75 to $300 per square foot or more.
• Shower Glass: Shower enclosure choices can also affect the price. A framed enclosure generally costs less than a frameless or custom glass enclosure. Larger panels, specialty hardware, and more complex configurations can further increase the cost.

Shower Design

The size and design of your shower can have a significant impact on the overall investment. Larger showers require more tile, waterproofing, glass, and labor, while custom features such as built-in niches, benches, multiple shower fixtures, and specialty layouts can add to the cost.

Layout Changes

Moving walls or relocating plumbing fixtures such as vanities, showers, tubs, or toilets can quickly increase the cost of a bathroom remodel. These changes may require additional plumbing, electrical, structural, and finish work.

Some remodeling companies use allowances to estimate the cost of products that have not yet been selected. While this can provide a general idea of what an item may cost, the final price can drastically change depending on the selections you make. Some contractors use unrealistically low price allowance categories as a way of underbidding the competition. However, it is the client who ends up paying the difference when the chosen product costs more than the allowance.

We work with you to make your product selections before construction begins so your project price is based on the actual materials and finishes you've chosen—not an estimated allowance. This gives you a clearer understanding of your total investment before work begins and helps minimize unexpected costs along the way.

Finalizing selections in advance also helps keep your project moving once construction begins. With materials chosen and ordered ahead of time, we can better coordinate scheduling and avoid unnecessary delays caused by waiting for decisions or materials to be finalized.

Clients often ask us, "What is the price per square foot for a bathroom remodel?" There isn't really a reliable or accurate answer to this question because the cost of a remodel depends on so much more than the size of the bathroom. A smaller bathroom can still have high-end plumbing fixtures, custom vanity or storage solutions, intricate tile designs, or a spacious custom shower. As a result, a smaller bathroom with high-end, custom selections can cost just as much or even more than a larger bathroom with more standard or mid-range selections. A 50 sq. ft. bathroom isn't necessarily half the cost of a 100 sq. ft. bathroom. 

Because every project is unique, price per square foot can be misleading and doesn't accurately reflect the scope or quality of the work being completed. Instead, we look at the specific design, materials, and selections involved in each project to determine an accurate price.
